DHAKA, June 28, 2026 (BSS)- Country’s first-ever export of hatching eggs began today with sending a consignment to Nigeria by air.

Addressing a function on the occasion at cargo village of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku said the government has set a target to export high-quality livestock products to the international market after meeting domestic demands, a press release said.

‘Our main objective is to export livestock products to international markets after fulfilling local requirements. This export will significantly boost the national economy and accelerate the overall development of the country,’ he said.

Tuku said the Prime Minister has directed to transform every sector of the country into export-oriented. “Under his visionary leadership, the fisheries and livestock sector will gradually emerge as a robust export-driven industry,” he added.

Terming the sending of first consignment to Nigeria as a historic milestone, the state minister noted that it has opened up new horizons for the diversification of Bangladesh's export basket.

He expressed optimism that the volume of exports would expand in the future, playing a role in earning foreign exchange.
