RU emerges as 1st Inter-University Taekwondo Champions

RAJSHAHI, June 28, 2026 (BSS) - Rajshahi University (RU) has become the champions of the 1st Inter-University Taekwondo (Men and Women) Championship.
 
Pro-Vice Chancellors Professor Md. Abdul Alim and Professor Mamunur Rashid distributed prizes as the special guests for the three-day competition at a function held at the RU Gymnasium.
 
Professor Md. Arifur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and President of the Inter-University Games Sub-Committee, presided over the event.  
Besides the Pro-Vice Chancellors, special guests Treasurer Professor Md. Motiar Rahman, Syndicate member Professor Md. Rezaul Karim, and Director of RU’s Department of Physical Education Roksana Begum also spoke at the programme.
 
Among others, Hossain Shaheed Suhrawardy Hall Provost Professor Md. Ariful Islam, Shah Makhdum Hall Provost Professor Syed Sarwar Jahan, Controller of Examinations Professor Md. Hasnat Kabir, along with other concerned teachers and officials, were present.
 
In the competition, hosted by RU, the RU men’s team won 4 gold, 3 silver, and 1 bronze medals while the women’s team won 6 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medals.
 
First runner-up National University’s men’s team secured 2 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze medals, and the women’s team won 1 gold and 2 silver medals.
 
For second runner-up, among men, Jashore University of Science and Technology won 2 gold, 1 silver, and 4 bronze medals, while among women, University of Chittagong won 1 gold.
 
A total of 71 competitors from 7 universities participated in this competition.
