DGHS asks all private hospitals, clinics to set up labor rooms by July 11

DHAKA, July 6, 2026 (BSS) – The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has directed all private hospitals and clinics across the country to establish labor rooms by July 11 to ensure safe monitoring of childbirth and delivery services.

The directive was issued in a notice signed by DGHS Director (Hospitals and Clinics) Dr. Abu Hossain Md. Moinul Ahsan tonight.

According to the notice, all private hospitals and clinics must ensure the installation of labor rooms by July 11 in line with the private hospital and clinic inspection checklist.

The DGHS warned that legal action would be taken against any hospital or clinic found violating the directive after the deadline.

The order was issued following the instruction of DGHS Director General Professor Dr. Probat Chandra Biswas.

Earlier on Monday, Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Husain, while addressing a workshop in the capital directed all private hospitals and clinics to set up labor rooms by July 11.

The minister also warned that institutions failing to comply with the directive could face closure and cancellation of their licences.
