DHAKA, July 10, 2026 (BSS) - Cultural affairs minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury today said Bengali identity and culture must be presented to the world.

"Culture is the mirror of a nation. In its light, we must foster the development of a healthy culture by upholding our rich history, heritage and the spirit of the July Movement," he said.

He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a cultural programme held this evening at the Cumilla District Shilpakala Academy Auditorium.

He said all cultural organisations, including the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha (JASAS), should work together to attract the younger generation to indigenous culture amid the influence of cultural degradation.

Cumilla Metropolitan unit of JASAS and artists and cultural organisations from all walks of life in Cumilla jointly organized the event.

Dr Afshan Anis, president of the Cumilla metropolitan unit of JASAS presided over the event.

Member of Parliament for Cumilla-6 Monirul Haque Chowdhury addressed the function as the chief speaker.
