Govt assigns Amit to coordinate flood response in Ctg

DHAKA, July 10, 2026 (BSS) - The government has assigned State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit to coordinate rescue operations, relief distribution and rehabilitation activities in response to the recent flood disaster in Chattogram and the three hill districts.

The information was disclosed in a notification signed today by Cabinet Secretary Dr Nasimul Gani.

According to the notification, the state minister has been assigned the responsibility to ensure proper coordination and supervision of the activities of government agencies in the flood-affected areas.

Under his mandate, he will assess the extent of flood damage, the stock of relief materials available with the local administration and the ongoing rescue operations.

He is also subjected to provide necessary coordination and guidance to the relevant ministries, divisions, directorates, agencies, district administrations and law enforcement agencies in carrying out their activities.

In addition, he will be responsible for assessing flood-related damage in the affected areas, preparing rehabilitation plans, overseeing measures to ensure adequate relief supplies and regularly inform the government about the flood situation and the steps taken.
