BNP calls nationwide one-day mourning programme for Jamiruddin Sircar

DHAKA, July 12, 2026 (BSS) - BNP has announced a one-day nationwide mourning programme following the death of Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar, former acting President and former Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad and a member of the party’s standing committee.

As part of the programme, black flags will be flown at all party offices across the country, including the Nayapaltan central office here and party leaders and activists will wear black badges, said a press release.

Jamiruddin Sircar passed away while undergoing treatment at a private hospital here at 4:19 am today aged 94.
