International Seminar held at RU

RAJSHAHI, July 16, 2026 (BSS) – A two-day international seminar titled ‘Ecology, Biological and Biochemical Sciences, Agriculture and Population Issues’ was held today at Rajshahi University (RU).

Vice-Chancellor Prof Md. Faridul Islam attended the seminar as the chief guest, while Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Prof Md. Abdul Alim and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) Prof Mamunur Rashid were present as special guests.

The seminar was jointly organized by the Department of Population Science and Human Resource Development, the Institute of Environmental Science, the Heat-ATP Sub-project of the Department of Fisheries, and the Career Counseling and Development Center (CCDC). 

With Prof J. A. M. Sakilur Rahman of the Department of Population Science and Human Resource Development in the chair, Prof Md. Nurul Momen, Director of CCDC, delivered the welcome address. 

Among others present at the event were Student Adviser Prof A. H. M. Khurshid Alam, Administrator of the Public Relations Office Prof S. M. Kamruzzaman, and other concerned individuals.

The invited speakers at the seminar were Dr. Monowarul Mobin Siddique from the University of Utah, USA, Emilia Julianti Siregar from the Universitas Sumatera Utara, Indonesia, and Dr. Ismail Tarek from the Sultan Qaboos University, Oman.

A total of 24 papers were presented across two academic sessions of the seminar.

Assistant Director of CCDC, Prof Md. Golbar Hossain moderated the inaugural session of the seminar. 

More than 100 teachers, researchers, and students related to the field participated in this seminar.

As part of the seminar, a discussion titled ‘Improving Science Through Multidisciplinary Collaboration’ with young researchers will be held tomorrow, Friday, at 9:30 AM at CCDC.
