DMP files 2,085 cases against traffic rules violations

DHAKA, July 16, 2026 (BSS) - As part of the ongoing campaign to bring traffic system under control, Dhaka Metropolitan Police's (DMP) Traffic Division has filed a total of 2,085 cases against vehicles, owners and its drivers for violating traffic rules.

The DMP's media and public relations division disclosed the information at a press release here today.

It said that the DMP traffic division conducted campaign against traffic breakers during the last one day and filed cases.

The release said the DMP traffic police dumped 577 motor vehicles and towed 264 vehicles during the campaign against traffic rule violations on July 15.

According the press release, several teams of the DMP traffic division have been working to bring traffic system under smooth in the capital for giving city dwellers easy movement.

The release further said that campaign against traffic violators will continue to ensure discipline on Dhaka's streets.

It said Ramna division filed 88 cases, Lalbagh division registered 194 cases, Motijheel traffic division filed 327 cases, Wari division registered 490 cases, Tejgaon division filed 286 cases, Mirpur division filed 328 cases, Uttara division registered 165 cases and Gulshan division filed 207 cases against motor vehicles as well as three wheelers and motorcycles, it said.
