DHAKA, July 26, 2026 (BSS) - Acting Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Barrister Kayser Kamal, today accepted an invitation to attend the National SDG Localisation Campaign as the chief guest at a meeting with a high-level delegation of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).
The delegation, led by UNOPS Bangladesh and Bhutan Country Manager Sudhir Muralidharan, paid a courtesy call on the Acting Speaker at the Jatiya Sangsad today.
During the meeting, the UNOPS delegation formally handed over an invitation to Barrister Kayser Kamal to attend the National SDG Localization Campaign, scheduled to be held at the Liberation War Museum in Dhaka on August 8, 2026.
The Acting Speaker accepted the invitation with appreciation and expressed his gratitude to the delegation for inviting him to the event, said a press release of parliament secretariat.
Highlighting Bangladesh’s continued progress in women’s development, Kayser Kamal said former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia had laid a strong foundation for women’s education and political empowerment in the country.
He said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is carrying forward that legacy by taking timely and far-sighted initiatives to ensure equitable governance and effective, strong leadership, which are fully aligned with the objectives of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) projects.
The meeting was attended by senior officials of the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat and members of the UNOPS delegation.
