Health officials report 988 fresh cases of dengue infection, 2 deaths overnight

DHAKA, Sept 05, 2026 (BSS) - Health officials today said they recorded 988 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least two persons in the past 24 hours.

“During the period, (of the 988) 170 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 123 in Chattogram division, 176 in Dhaka division, 149 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 102 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 163 in Khulna division, 50 in Mymensingh division, 49 in Rajshahi division and six in Rangpur division, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 113 deaths while the disease inflicted 41,032.

The dengue last year claimed 413 lives and inflicted 1,02,861 people in the country.

Besides, the dengue claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in 2024.
