300 unemployed, distressed families get food assistance in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Sept 05, 2026 (BSS) – Rangpur District Council has provided food assistance to 300 unemployed and distressed families affected by river erosion living on the banks of the river Teesta in Kawnia upazila of Rangpur. 
 
Rangpur District Council Administrator and District BNP Convener Md Saiful Islam distributed food assistance as chief guest at a function organized in the area adjacent to Teesta Rail Bridge in Kawnia upazila on Saturday afternoon. 
 
While distributing food assistance, District Council Administrator Md Saiful Islam said that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is working to improve the living standards of the people and has taken initiatives to implement the Teesta Master Plan. 
 
He said, “The incumbent government is with the people who lost their land and properties due to Teesta river erosion is distributing food assistance to help the unemployed and distressed people of this region.” 
 
He alleged that various conspiracies are on to disrupt the government’s developmental activities. 
 
He called upon everyone to unite to resist these anti-national conspiracies. 
 
At that time, Kawnia Upazila Project Implementation Officer Md Mesbahur Rahman, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Ankan Paul, District BNP senior member Fazlur Rahman Badal were among others present at the event.
