DHAKA, Sept 5, 2026 (BSS) – The traffic division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today filed 3,206 cases against vehicles for violating traffic rules during the last two days in the capital.

The cases were filed as part of the DMP's regular enforcement campaign carried out on Thursday and Friday aimed at ensuring traffic discipline, reducing congestion and improving road safety across the city, according to a media and public relations division issued here today.

The DMP said such drives against traffic law violators will continue, urging motorists and pedestrians alike to comply with traffic regulations to help maintain order on the roads.

It said that the DMP traffic police dumped 878 motor vehicles and towed 501 vehicles during the campaign.

During the drives, the Traffic-Ramna Division filed 215 cases, including 19 against buses, 10 covered vans, 16 CNG-run auto-rickshaw and 71 motorcycles, according to a media spokesperson of the DMP.

The spokesperson said 228 cases were filed by the Traffic-Lalbagh Division including against 14 buses, 14 trucks, two covered vans, 13 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 118 motorcycles, while Traffic-Motijheel Division filed 512 cases, against 29 buses, two trucks and 269 motorcycles.

Meanwhile, the Traffic-Wari Division filed 445 cases, including 50 against buses, 41 trucks, 31 covered vans, 50 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 159 motorcycles. 

The Traffic-Tejgaon Division filed 244 cases, including 13 against buses, one truck, eight covered vans, 24 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 106 motorcycles.

The Traffic-Mirpur Division filed 669 cases, including 25 against buses, 22 trucks, 47 covered vans, 72 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 258 motorcycles, Uttara division registered 612 cases including against 52 buses, 19 trucks, 23 covered vans, 54 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 261 motorcycles.

The Traffic-Gulshan Division filed 273 cases, including 39 against buses, six trucks, eight covered vans, 29 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 73 motorcycles.

The drives were conducted as part of the DMP's ongoing efforts to enforce traffic laws and ensure discipline on the city's roads, the DMP release said.
