DHAKA, Jan 23, 2026 (BSS) - BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman returned to Dhaka this morning after participating in election rallies in seven districts ahead of the upcoming 13th national parliamentary elections.

At the rallies, he sought votes for the BNP's electoral symbol 'sheaf of paddy' and for candidates contesting under seat-sharing agreements with the party.

During his speeches, the BNP Chairman promised that if the party forms the government after the elections, it would undertake canal excavation across the country, introduce family and farmer cards, provide training to unemployed youth to create employment opportunities, and ensure honorarium allowances for Imams and Muazzins.

Tarique Rahman began his election tour in Sylhet, where he addressed the first rally at the Sylhet Alia Madrasa ground at around 1:00 pm. He later spoke at rallies in Moulvibazar at 3:00 pm, Habiganj around 6:15 pm, Sarail in Brahmanbaria at 10:30 pm, and Bhairab upazila of Kishoreganj at around 12:15 am.

He arrived at a ground adjacent to Narsingdi Municipal Park at around 3:00 am and subsequently addressed an election rally in Narayanganj shortly after 4:00 am before leaving for Dhaka.

In the rallies, Tarique Rahman was also seen expressing regret for making party leaders and activists wait until the early morning hours.

BNP Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan said Tarique Rahman returned home after concluding seven rallies within 16 hours on the first day of the election campaign.

He added that the BNP Chairman attended the final rally in Rupganj of Narayanganj shortly after 4:00 am before departing for Dhaka.
