DHAKA, March 3, 2025 (BSS) - Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin today said that the supply of soybean oil would be normal within the next two days.

"There is no shortage of daily necessities. The supply of soybean oil is slightly less. There is nothing to deny that. I hope the supply situation will improve from today," he said after visiting the Mohammadpur Town Hall Raw Market in the city, said a press release.

Industries Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan was also present on the occasion.

Responding to a query, Bashir said, only soybean oil is being sold at a higher price, palm oil is being sold at a price Taka 25 lower than the price set by the government.

"Sixty percent of our total edible oil is palm oil. The price of Palm oil in the market has decreased and the price of soybean oil has increased at the same time. I hope the price of soybean oil will also decrease," he added.

In response to another query, Adilur Rahman Khan said that the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) is operating mobile courts during the holy month of Ramadan to control the quality of products and prevent food adulteration.

Today, mobile courts have been operated in four markets, he mentioned.
