Mahfuj for making Betar programmes time-befiting

DHAKA, March 12, 2025 (BSS) – Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md Mahfuj Alam today stressed on conducting a survey on listeners of Bangladesh Betar to make programmes of the state-run radio time-befitting in line with the listeners’ demand.

“Betar still serves as one of the main sources of information, education, and entertainment for the country’s people,” he said.

The adviser made the remarks at a views exchange meeting with Bangladesh Betar officials at its headquarters in the city’s Agargaon area, said a press release.

Putting emphasize on preserving the old programmes of the radio, Mahfuj said old programs should be preserved in a digital catalog online.

Besides, the old programmes should be rebroadcast considering the audience demand, he added.

The adviser emphasized the need to formulate a specific action plan to improve the quality of the Betar's programmes. He urged the Betar officials, artists and technicians to make the Betar suitable for the younger generation.

Bangladesh Betar Director General ASM Zahid, Additional Director General (Programme) M Anwar Hossain Mridha and Chief Engineer Munir Ahmad were present at the meeting, among others.

After the meeting, the information and broadcasting adviser visited studios of programme and news sections, and master control room of the Bangladesh Betar.
