DHAKA, Nov 1, 2025 (BSS) – Officials of the Election Commission (EC) have received training today to enhance their communication skills for effectively engaging with the media ahead of the 13th parliamentary election.

The training also aimed at ensuring transparency, accountability and strengthening democratic values in the election process, EC sources said.

Experts of the respective fields from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) provided training to the EC officials as resource persons. The programme was organized with the support of the United Nations (UN) in Bangladesh.

The day-long training programme titled “Media in Election: Effective Communication with Journalists and Media Engagement for Transparency, Trust and Democracy” was organized for trainers of the EC at the Election Training Institute (ETI) in the city’s Agargaon area.

It is an important capacity-building initiative for the trainers of the Bangladesh Election Commission, said Md Ruhul Amin Mallik, Director (PR) of the EC Secretariat.

Participants received training on effective communication with the media, information management during crisis and strategies to enhance transparency and public confidence in the electoral process, he added.

Apart from the United Nations, Japan, the United Kingdom, international development agencies, Australia, Norway, and Sweden provided support in implementing the programme.

EC officials said the initiative marks a significant step towards establishing a participatory, transparent, and credible election management system.
