Former vice-president of banned BCL Moshiur lands in jail

DHAKA, Jan 23, 2025 (BSS) – A court here today sent former vice president of banned Bangladesh Awami League (BCL) Moshiur Rahman to jail in a case lodged over vandalizing and arson during the anti-discrimination student movement.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Monirul Islam passed the order as police produced Moshiur before the court and pleaded to keep him behind the bars till the end of probe in the case.

A team of New Market Police Station arrested Moshiur from the capital’s Science Laboratory area earlier today.

According to the case documents, cadres of Awami League and its front organizations vandalized different rooms of Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) in the Science Laboratory area and set different things on fire, only to put blames on students.

The case was filed on November 25 in this connection.
