IAB Amir for forging unity to ensure new freedom meaningful

DHAKA, Jan 24, 2025 (BSS)- Amir of Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB) Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim today called upon all concerned to forge unity to ensure the newly achieved freedom meaningful.  


“We have gained new freedom through the July Uprising . . . We must remain united to make this freedom meaningful,” he told a gathering as the chief guest.


Mufti Rezaul, also Charmonai Pir, was speaking at a discussion organized by the IAB Dhaka south city unit at the Engineers Institution Auditorium in Ramna here today.

Charmonai Pir said, Islam is the religion where there is no opportunity of corruption, looting and theft and bribery. There is no room for extortion and occupying anything illegally in Islam, he said. 


Referring to the 53-year of Bangladesh’s Independence, Mufti Rezaul Karim said, “Long 53 years have elapsed; we have not been able to enjoy the benefits of Independence.”


“Many of those who were in power have looted state resources and smuggled those abroad. They have established Begumpara abroad. They have repeatedly earned the ‘title of champion in corruption’.


IAB’s joint secretary general and Dhaka South City president Maulana Muhammad Imtiaz Alam presided over the meeting. 

Among others, party secretary general principal Hafez Maulana Yunus Ahmad, presidium member Prof Ashraf Ali Akon, senior joint secretary general Maulana Gazi Ataur Rahman, office secretary Maulana Lokman Hossain Jafri and Dhaka divisional organizing secretary Maulana Dilawar Hossain Saki, spoke among others on the occasion.


Later, IAB amir announced party’s Dhaka south city unit committee with Maulana Muhammad Imtiaz Alam as the president and Alhaj Abdul Awal Majumder as the secretary for the next 2025-26 year.
