LAXMIPUR, Jan 26, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie today said his party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s demand on holding the next general election under a neutral government is very much logical.

“The countrymen want the same thing, for which the common people are fighting, struggling, and waging movements. It will not be wise to counter the demand as it may create another critical time for the nation,” he said.

He was addressing an annual sports competition programme at the Collegiate High School ground in the district town and distributing the awards among the winners.

The senior BNP leader alerted all about the reemergence of the fascist Awami League due to lack of unity and said that those who fled the country in the face of the students-public movement are conspiring in various ways both at home and abroad.

“Everyone should be careful about activities that can create an opportunity for reemergence of the Awami fascism. So, don’t create split within ourselves by inviting debate. Let’s work together against fascism to build a beautiful Bangladesh,” he said.

For this, a united effort is required from all, those who are in the government and those who are outside the government, he opined.

“We must reach a consensus on the elections among all. There is no room for debate regarding this issue. Let everyone work together so that no one else can conspire against Bangladesh,” he said.

School management committee president Md. Mahabub Alam Mamun presided over the function.

Sadar Upazila Secondary Education Officer Md. Didar Hossain and the school's headmaster Khodeja Khatun also spoke.
