DHAKA, Jan 26, 2025 (BSS) – Police today arrested the Uber driver who made an alleged attempt to kidnap film actress Nijhum Rubina during the ride on Tuesday.  

The arrestee is identified as Rakib Hasan.

The Rampura police station personnel detained him this evening from Badda area, police sources said.

Rakib was showed arrested in a case filed by actress Nijhum Rubina on Saturday night.

During the initial quizzing, the arrestee admitted that he tried to kidnap the heroine, police said, adding that the investigation is underway to find out whether other persons are involved in this incident or not and the reason of kidnapping.  

In the case document, actress Nijhum mentioned that she called an Uber car around 12pm on Tuesday aiming to go Dhanmondi. A driver came with Toyota Corolla Axio car holding of Dhaka Metro-G No. 452978 number plate.

After starting the Uber trip, the driver tried to go towards Gulshan instead of Dhanmondi. The actress argued with the driver for this reason and later shouted staying inside the car for help but the driver did not stop the car on spot.

The actress jumped off the car aiming to protect herself, said in a case document.
