Salman, Anisul 10 others shown arrested in fresh uprising cases

DHAKA, Jan 27, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today showed 12 people including
Salman F Rahman, Anisul Huq and Zunaid Ahmed Palak arrested in fresh cases
lodged over crimes committed during student-led July-August mass-uprising.
 
The other people, who were shown arrested today are former inspector general
of police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, Nasa Group chairman Nazrul Islam
Majumder, Rashed Khan Menon, Hasanul Haque Inu, Desh TV managing director
Arif Hasan, journalist couple Farjana Rupa and Shakil Ahmed, assistant
commissioner (AC) of police Iftekhar Mahmud, and Pallabi thana Awami League
leader Abdul Malek.
 
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saifuzzaman passed the orders as police
produced the accused before the court and pleaded to show them arrested in
the cases.
 
Of the 12, former law minister Anisul Huq was shown arrested in three cases
filed with the Jatrabari Police Station and one with the Sutrapur Police
Station. Salman F Rahman, former private industry affairs adviser to ousted
prime minister Sheikh Hasina, was shown arrested in two Jatrabari cases,
Palak was also shown arrested in a case filed with the Jatrabari Police
Station.
 
Former IGP Mamun was shown arrested in three cases and Nazrul was shown
arrested in one case filed with the Jatrabari Police Station. Menon, Inu,
Rupa and Shakil were shown arrested in three separate cases filed with the
Mirpur Model Police Station. Arif Hasan was shown arrested in a case filed
with the Kotwali Police Station, while Iftekhar Mahmud was shown arrested in
a Kafrul case.
 
Pallabi thana Awami League leader Abdul Malek was shown arrested in a case
filed with the capital's Hatirjheel Police Station.
