Govt should concentrate on some vital tasks along with reforms: Rizvi

MANIKGANJ, Jan 27, 2025 (BSS) – BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rivzi Ahmed said the government should give importance to some essential tasks along with laying concentrate on reform as it is a continuous process.

“The present interim government has undertaken responsibility of some reforms . . . but it must give attention to other important issues,” he said. 

BNP senior leader said this while addressing as the chief guest a programme marking the 89th birth anniversary of BNP founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and 12th anniversary of ‘Zia Memorial Library’ here on Sunday evening.

Rizvi said the chief adviser of the interim government should work to bring the prices of essentials under control along with different reforms such as police. Independence of judiciary must be ensured for the welfare of the people, he added.

Terming the rule of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as a regime like Farao, a ruler of ancient Egypt, the BNP senior leader said people had no freedom during the last 16 years her regime. 

Even police fired on mass people if any procession was brought and the law enforcement agencies were involved in evil activities like enforced disappearance if anyone posted any remark in the social media or Facebook, he said. 

He said the education of the country was destroyed and democracy was ruined during the last one and a half decades.

BNP Chairperson’s Advisor also the President of Manikganj district BNP Afroza Khan Rita, BNP National Executive Committee’s Health Affairs Secretary Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam and district BNP General Secretary also the BNP National Executive Committee member S A Kabir Jinnah spoke on the occasion.
