City dwellers to get partial traffic services through 999

DHAKA, Jan 28, 2025 (BSS) – From now on, the city dwellers will get partial traffic services through the National Emergency Service 999, according to a notification issued by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) here tonight.

Traffic division of DMP has made an arrangement keeping in mind the public sufferings due to heavy traffic on different roads in the city following meetings, agitation, sit-in demonstrations by occupying roads.    

After introduction of the system, people will get to know the city’s actual traffic condition through the National Emergency Service 999, which would immensely help the commuters to reach their destination in time.

They will also get to know information about the sit-in, strikes, blockades, meetings, processions on roads for which traffic movement has been closed or restricted.

Through the number (999), people will also get to know information about alternative roads to use where traffic systems are being maintained properly.
