Fugitive Jubo League leader held over murder in N'ganj

RANGAMATI, Jan 29, 2025 (BSS) - Police have arrested Jubo League leader Mamunur Rashid Mamun from the Battala area under Siddhirganj Police Station in Narayanganj for his alleged involvement in double murder cases.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team conducted a raid in the aforementioned area around 3:00 am and arrested Mamun, a former UP chairman in Rangamati, for his involvement in the murders of Khairul and Khabir, residents of Barkal upazila in Rangamati district, said Officer-in-Charge of Siddhirganj Police Station Md. Shahinur Rahman.

Md. Alamgir, Officer-in-Charge of Barkal Police Station, told BSS that Khairul was killed four years ago, while Khabir was killed five years ago.

Two murder cases were filed with Barkal Police Station in December 2024 against Mamun, who is also accused in another case.

The arrestee will be sent to Barkal Police Station, Rangamati, where the murder cases were filed, for further legal procedures.
