DHAKA, Feb 01, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed today expressed deep concern over the death of Jubo Dal leader Touhidul Islam after being detained by law enforcement agencies in Cumilla.

"Why people are becoming victims of extrajudicial killing now! If someone does something wrong, he will definitely be arrested according to the law, that is normal. It is very much unexpected that law enforcement agencies to catch someone and beat them to death without any reason," he said.

Rizvi was addressing as the chief guest in the introductory meeting of the central committee of "Thikana Bangladesh" at Bhashani Hall at Naya Paltan in the capital.

BNP's Central Assistant Publicity Secretary Asadul Karim Shahin spoke at the event.

Rizvi said if Touhidul was really a criminal, he could have been arrested and brought to justice.

But after arresting him, he was brutally tortured to death and his body was returned to his parents, he said questioning why such incident will take place now.
