NOAKHALI, Feb 4, 2025 (BSS) – Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami  Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman has said struggle should be launched to bring back the nation’s dignity for building a humane Bangladesh for the people.

“Struggle should be launched to regain our dignity . . . this struggle would be for our survival and if we win this fight, then we will be able to present the nation a humane Bangladesh,” he said.

The Jamaat chief said this while speaking at a street rally at Subarnachar here on Monday evening. Dr Shafiqur Rahman went to Subarnachar to visit the family members of a mother of four children who was reportedly gang raped for casting vote for ‘sheaf of paddy’ in an election in 2018.

Dr Shafique said, “We have lost most of our existence, so we have to start fight again to bring back our existence as a nation.”

Terming the gang raped incident as an inhuman act, the Jamaat Ameer said, “The dignity of a sister is more than our life, but these perpetrators didn’t understand it”.

“Some animals in guise of human being had perpetrated such a major crime in 2018 at Subarnachar in Noakhali,” he said, adding that people could not protest at that time as the whole country was turned into a hell.

“Even, we could not perform our moral duties, we didn’t stand at their side. Such incidents had happened more or less across the country during the past regime,” Dr Shafique said.

The street rally also was attended , among others, by central assistant secretary general Maulana ATM Masum, central working council member and Cumilla city Ameer Quazi Deen Mohammad, central Masjil-e Sura member Prof Liakat Ali Bhuiyan, Maulana Alauddin, Maulana Shamsuddin, Feni district Ameer Mufti  Maulana Abdul Hannan, Noakhali district jamaat Nayeb-e Ameer Maulana Sayed Ahammad and district secretary Maulana Borhan Uddin.

Subarnachar upazila jamaat Ameer  Maulana Jamaluddin  presided over the rally.
