DHAKA, Feb 5, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today showed arrested former Jhalkathi-1 lawmaker Barrister M Shahjahan Omar, former inspector general of police (IG) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun and former Dhaka Metropolitan Police commissioner Asaduzzaman Miah in a case lodged over the killing of garment worker Rubel during the recent anti-discrimination student movement.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate MA Azharul Islam passed the order as police produced the trio before the court and pleaded to show them arrested in the case.

Garment worker Rubel joined the anti-discrimination student movement rally in the city's Adabor Ring Road area on August 5. He got shot in his chest and abdomen on that day and succumbed to his injuries two days later.

Rubel's father Rafikul Islam filed the case on August 22 against 156 people, including Sheikh Hasina and Obaidul Quader.
