DHAKA, Feb 20, 2025 (BSS) – A court here today ordered a travel ban on Padma Bank’s Executive Vice President M Khaled and CSO Md Shariful Islam, two close aides of the bank’s former chairman Chowdhury Nafiz Sarafat.

Senior Special Judge of Dhaka Metropolitan Zakir Hossain passed the order upon a petition of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The ACC in its petition said Nafiz Sarafat has amassed a huge amount of money through bribery, manipulation, misuse of power and cheating with the customers of the bank and siphoned off the money abroad. He is currently staying abroad.

But Khaled and Shariful have been working to look into the interest of Nafiz Sarafat in the country in absence of him. So, for the sake of the inquiry against Sarafat, it is a must to stop them leaving the country.
