2 to walk gallows in Pallabi dairy farm owner killing case

DHAKA, Feb 25, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today convicted and sentenced two people to death and four others to life imprisonment in a case lodged over the murder of daily farm owner Monsur Mallik in the capital's Pallabi area in 2007.

Judge Muhammad Abu Taher of Dhaka Special Judge Court-3 pronounced the judgment sentencing Md Jahirul Islam Jahir and Md Abdur Rahim alias Chanchal to death and Md Abdul Karim, Babu, Md Mofazzal Hossain and Md Safiuddin Adnan to life imprisonment. The court also fined them Taka 50,000 each.

According to the case documents, Monsur Mallik was at his farm in Block-D, Paris Road, Pallabi area on May 12, 2007. Around 10 pm, the convicts attacked him, hacking him indiscriminately. They also shot at him to confirm his death.

Mallik's widow Taslima Begum filed the case with the Pallabi Police Station the next day.
