Court scraps Palak's bail plea in graft case

DHAKA, March 10, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today scrapped a plea of former 
state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak for bail in a graft case filed by 
the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the 
order after holding a hearing on the matter.

The ACC filed the case on December 12, 2024, under sections 27 (1) of the 
Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004, 4 (2) and 4 (3) of the Money Laundering 
Prevention Act, 2012, and 5 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

According to the case documents, the former state minister amassed illegal 
wealth of Taka 8.73 crore and kept those under his possession. He also made 
suspicious transactions of around Taka 62 crore through 25 bank accounts. 

Detective Branch (DB) of police on August 14 arrested Palak from Nikunja 
residential area.
