DHAKA, March 10, 2025 (BSS) – The Centre for Governance Studies (CGS) has arranged a training programme on fact-checking for journalists aimed at promoting responsible journalism and combating misinformation.
The workshop, participated by the journalists from 20 leading national media outlets, took place at the Bishwo Shahitto Kendro in the capital.
CGS is conducting similar workshops in all eight divisions of Bangladesh and has remained committed to promoting responsible journalism and combating misinformation.
Addressing the event, CGS Executive Director Zillur Rahman said, “The necessity for fact-checking in Bangladesh and around the world is more important now than ever before.”
The rapid spread of misinformation has become a threat to democratic discussions, social stability, and public trust, he said adding, “Considering the challenges, CGS is working relentlessly to enhance journalists’ skills to tackle misinformation.”
Through organizing fact-checking workshops across the country, CGS is working towards building more responsible media, he added.
AFP Fact check editor Qadaruddin Shishir, who conducted the training, introduced the participants to modern fact-checking tools and strategies as well as discussed in details on digital verification, identifying misinformation on social media, and investigative strategies.
