Tribunal sends constable Nasirul to jail over Chankharpul massacre

DHAKA, March 11, 2025 (BSS) - The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) today sent former police constable Nasirul to jail after showing him arrested in a crimes against humanity case lodged over a massacre that took place in the city's Chankharpul area where seven people were brutally killed during the July-August mass uprising.

The three-member tribunal led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder passed the order as police produced the accused before the court today.

"The tribunal sent the accused to jail and set April 22 for submitting probe report in the case," prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim told newsmen.

According to the prosecution, a total of seven people, including Shahriar Khan Anas, were brutally killed in the Chankharpul area during the July-August mass uprising.

"Relevant police station had issued a Chinese rifle and 40 bullets in Nasirul's name during the uprising, of which he returned only 16 bullets. He fired 24 live bullets on the innocent people," prosecutor Tamim added.
