One accused of inciting mob over smoking in Lalmatia sent to jail

DHAKA, March 11, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sent to jail one Golam Mostakim Rinku, accused of inciting a mob to physically assault two girls over smoking in the city's Lalmatia area.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Masuma Rahman passed the order as police produced the accused before the court pleading to keep him behind the bars.

According to the case documents, two girls were smoking at a tea stall in Lalmatia on March 2. Then, a local elder objected to their smoking and engaged in an altercation with them. Rinku at the time entered the scene and tried and incited a mob to assault the girls physically.

Police arrested the accused on March 10.
