DHAKA, Mar 11, 2025 (BSS) - British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke today paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr. Shafiqur Rahman at the Jamaat central office here this morning.

“British High Commissioner arrived at Jamaat office at 11 am . . .  During the meeting, they exchanged greetings in a very cordial atmosphere and exchanged views on the overall political situation of Bangladesh,” said a release this evening.

Apart from the present political situation of the country, establishment of democracy, upcoming elections, human rights situation, the condition of minorities in Bangladesh and the Rohingya issues dominated the discussion, it said.

They also discussed ways to further improve and strengthen the friendly relations between Bangladesh and Great Britain, the release added.

The British High Commissioner was accompanied by Political Counselor Timothy Duckett.
