DHAKA, March 12, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu called for returning people's voting rights by holding general elections.

"In the interest of protecting 'freedom and sovereignty', the right to vote must be restored to the common people so that voters can elect representatives of their choice to run the country. Only an elected government can protect the country and run the country properly," he said.

The BNP senior leader made the call while speaking at an iftar and doa-mahfil in the capital as the chief guest seeking complete recovery of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia who is now receiving treatment in London.

Bangladesh Jatiyotabadi Ganatantra Parishad organized the event at Maulana Mohammad Akram Khan Hall in Jatiya Press Club.

Bangladesh Jatiyotabadi Ganatantra Parishad President Moktar Akhand presided over the event.
