DHAKA, March 16, 2025 (BSS) - The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) today showed former inspector general of police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun arrested in a crimes against humanity and genocide case against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.

"The three-member tribunal led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder passed the order, allowing a plea of the prosecution," prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim told BSS.

ICT Chief Prosecutor Muhammad Tajul Islam moved the plea before the tribunal, saying the former IGP was the right-hand man of the former prime minister in executing all the genocides and crimes against humanity under her superior command responsibility.

"We have included his name as co-accused for strategic reason. We have learned that the investigation agency have found evidences of his involvement in the crimes," the chief prosecutor added.

The tribunal also allowed a prosecutor plea to interrogate the former police chief on March 18.

Chief Prosecutor Muhammad Tajul Islam, prosecutors Md Mizanur Rahman, Gazi MH Tamim, and BM Sultan Mahmud were present at the tribunal during the hearing.
