DHAKA, March 17, 2025 (BSS) - A patrol team of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a fugitive human trafficker from the city's Shahbagh area yesterday.

The arrested was identified as Farhad Matubbar, 55, son of Hamijuddin Matubbar hailed from Gopalpur village under Dasar upazila of Madaripur district.

The arrested person targeted people, who were looking to travel abroad, under Kalkini and Dasar upazilas of Madaripur district and entice them with promises of work in different countries to extort huge amounts of money, said a RAB release here today.

The patrol team of RAB-3 arrested Farhad based on intelligence information.

He was absconding before his arrest as numerous cases were filed against him at Kalkini and Dasar police stations.

Legal action has been taken against the arrested person, the release added.
