Two former chairmen arrested in student murder case in Magura

MAGURA, March 18, 2025 (BSS) - Police today arrested two former union 
parishad chairmen for their involvement in killing student during the anti 
discrimination student movement.   

The arrested were - Md. Mizanur Rahman Sikder, former chairman of Binodpur 
union parishad in Mohammadpur upazila and Tauybur Rahman Toraf, former 
chairman of Nahata union parishad of the upazila.

They were arrested from Dhaka Road area of Sadar upazila at 11 am.

Additional Superintendent of Police Mirajul Islam said that the two former 
chairmen who were arrested are accused in the August 5, 2024 murder case of 
Ahad and Sumon, who were killed during the anti-discrimination student 
movement in Mohammadpur Sadar upazila.

They were absconding for a long time and secretly changing their location.
