Jatka Conservation Week concluded today in Manikganj

MANIKGANJ, April 14, 2025 (BSS) - Jatka Conservation Week, which began on April 8 to enhance Hilsa production by preventing the capture of immature Hilsa (Jatka), ended here today with a series of awareness programs across the district.

To mark the occasion, separate discussion meetings were held in Harirampur, Shibalaya and Daulatpur upazilas, located near the Padma and Jamuna rivers, the Jatka sanctuary area of the district.

Local administration, public representatives, fishermen and businessmen participated in the meetings under the auspices of the Department of Fisheries.

In Harirampur upazila, deputy commissioner Dr. Manwar Hossein Malla attended the meeting as the chief guest, while district superintendent of police (SP) Yasmin Khatun, district fishery officer Md. Saifur Rahman and additional deputy commissioner (Gen) Atiqul Mamun were present as special guests.

Harirampur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Kohinur Akter presided over the meeting.
