Two coffeehouse staffers remanded for assaulting girl

DHAKA, April 15, 2025 (BSS) – A court here today placed two staffers of Apon Coffeehouse, situated in the city’s Khilgaon area, on one-day remand each for physically assaulting a girl on April 11.

The two remanded accused are - Al Amin and Shuvo Shutradhar.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Rakibul Hasan passed the order as police produced the duo before the court and pleaded to place them on five-day remand each.

A video clipping of the assault on the girl in front of the coffeehouse situated in Khilgaon Taltola area went viral in social media, prompting Rampura Police Station sub-inspector Shafikul Islam Khan to file the case.

In the video, a few youths were seen engaged in an altercation with the girl and later they started beating her, making her to run for her life.
