DHAKA, April 16, 2025 (BSS) - Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) during a drive last afternoon arrested five kidnappers and rescued the abducted man from the Keraniganj area of the capital city.

The detainees were identified as Md Ramzan alias Ranju (37), Md Miraj (21), Md Mahim (25), Md Borhan (17) and Md Sagar (15), said a press release issued today by Assistant Director (Media) of RAB-10 ASP Shamim Hasan Sardar.

According to the release, the victim, Md Mostakim Chowdhury (26), was reportedly kidnapped by the gang shortly after he left his residence at Khezurbagh in Keraniganj for work on Sunday.

Later on the same day, at around 8:00am, the abductors called the victim's his wife, Mousumi (21), from his mobile phone and demanded a ransom of Taka two lakh for his release.

Following a case filed by the victim's wife with the South Keraniganj Police Station, the RAB personnel conducted the operation and arrested the five gang members yesterday.

A legal process is underway in this connection.
