Ex-DGHS driver Malek, wife jailed in graft case

DHAKA, April 16, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today convicted and sentenced former driver of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Abdul Malek to five-year and his wife Nargis Begum to three-year imprisonment in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for amassing illegal wealth.


The court also ordered to confiscate their illegal wealth of Taka 1.10 crore in favor of the state.


Judge Zakaria Hossain of Dhaka Special Judge Court-6 pronounced the judgement. It also fined Malek and Nargis Begum Taka 20 thousand each.


The ACC on February 14, 2021, filed the case against the couple for amassing illegal wealth of Taka 1.10 crore. ACC assistant director Syed Nazrul Islam filed the charge sheet on October 27, 2021, and the court on May 11, 2022, framed charges against the accused.
