Court orders to attach land and freeze bank accounts of Subid Ali’s wife

DHAKA, April 16, 2025(BSS) - A court here today ordered to attach 4.75 acres of land of former lawmaker from Cumilla-1 constituency major general (Rtd) Subid Ali Bhuiyan’s wife Mahmuda Akhter in Gazipur, Cumilla and Dhaka City. 

The court also instructed the concerned authorities to freeze 12 bank accounts in her name.

Senior Special Judge of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Court Md Zakir Hossain Galib today passed the order following a petition submitted by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Deputy Director of the Public Relations Department of the ACC Md Aktarul Islam disclosed the information to the reporters at its headquarters.

The ACC in its petition told the court that the anti-graft body has already filed a case against Mahmuda Akhter for her alleged involvement in acquiring illegal assets and properties worth about Taka 1,42,54,676 through corruption. 

The accused also made suspicious and unusual transactions of Taka 36,31,91,014 through her 12 bank accounts . The ACC is still trying to find out the other assets and properties of Mahmuda Akhter, the sources said. 

The ACC also told the court that the accused may transfer, handover or sell her asset and properties to others secretly, that is why it should be attached and her bank accounts should be frozen immediately.
