DHAKA, May 14, 2025 (BSS) - Women Entrepreneur Association of Bangladesh (WEAB) President Nasreen Fatema Awal today demanded to reserve 100 seats for women in the National Parliamentary elections.

She made the demand while exchanging views with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin at Election Commission (EC) in city's Agargaon here.

Nasreen said, "We want to see 100 women members in the National Parliament. It would be better if there were more women in the Parliament."

She mentioned that they had verbally conveyed this demand to the CEC.

Nasreen Awal said, "In the past, women were not involved in elections in that way. We want all women to be able to participate in elections. Women should be able to vote without any hindrance. For a long time, we could not vote equally between men and women.

This time, we all want to participate equally in the elections. We want 100 seats for women in the upcoming elections. The number of women in parliament is very low."

"We should be given equal opportunities. We think that women should be given opportunities everywhere. We want to move forward, not backward. We don't want to see gender inequality," she added.
