DHAKA, May 19, 2025 (BSS) – Chinese Embassy in Dhaka in collaboration with the Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh (ATAB) and the University of Dhaka (DU) today celebrated Chinese Tourism Day-2025 at the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC), highlighting growing cooperation in tourism between the two countries.
The event featured vibrant cultural performances and a curated photo exhibition portraying the scenic landscapes and tourism appeal of Chinese provinces including Beijing, Guangdong, and Yunnan.
The festivities offered visitors an immersive experience of China’s rich heritage and natural beauty.
Cultural Counselor of Chinese Embassy in Dhaka Li Shaopeng and ATAB President Abdus Salam Aref jointly presided over the event, while Dr. Yang Hui, Director of the Confucius Institute at Dhaka University, attended as a special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, ATAB President Aref emphasized the importance of expanding tourism cooperation with China, a country globally recognized for its robust hospitality sector, advanced tourism infrastructure, and commitment to cultural preservation.
He noted that Bangladesh enjoys direct air connectivity with major Chinese cities such as Guangzhou, Kunming, Beijing, and Canton through carriers including Biman Bangladesh Airlines, China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines and Air China.
Such seamless travel links, he said, create significant opportunities to enhance people-to-people ties and facilitate tourism growth.
"With joint efforts in visa facilitation, promotional campaigns, and collaborative tourism initiatives, we can further elevate bilateral engagement in this vital sector," Aref said, reiterating ATAB’s commitment to deepening tourism partnerships with China.
The celebration brought together travel industry stakeholders, university students, and members of the press, fostering a platform for youth engagement and academic collaboration in the field of tourism.
The event underscored the growing friendship between Bangladesh and China and reflected a shared vision to boost mutual tourism and cultural exchange in the years ahead.
