Former AL lawmaker Laila Parvin Sejuti arrested

SATKHIRA, May 20, 2025 (BSS) - Police during an overnight drive today arrested former lawmaker from a reserved women's seat in Satkhira and Awami League's secretary for education and human resource affairs Laila Parvin Sejuti.

A joint team of Satkhira Sadar Police Station and Detective Branch (DB) arrested the ex-lawmaker from her residence in the Itagacha area of Satkhira town during the drive at around 2.30am, said Shaminul Huq, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Satkhira Sadar Police Station.

Sejuti was shown arrested under the Special Power Act 1974. Earlier, a case was filed against her on February 18, on charge of planning and financing sabotage which was proved under preliminary investigation, the OC added.
