BAGERHAT, May 20, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Press Council Chairman Justice AKM Abdul Hakim today emphasized that honesty, integrity and objective reporting are essential to preventing yellow journalism.

"A committed and dedicated journalist can significantly contribute to the progress of the nation," he said while inaugurating a training workshop titled "Preventing Misreporting in Mass Media and Promoting Objective News Presentation" at the Bagerhat Circuit House auditorium this morning.

Organized by the Bangladesh Press Council, the workshop brought together journalists from both print and electronic media to enhance ethical journalism practices.

The BPC chairman also stressed that true journalistic dignity comes from working selflessly for the country, rather than for personal gain. "One can earn the respect of a true journalist only by serving the public interest with sincerity and fairness," he noted.

The event was chaired by Bagerhat Deputy Commissioner Ahmed Kamrul Hasan.

Press Council Secretary M Abdus Sabur, Bagerhat Superintendent of Police Touhidul Arif, Additional SP M Mahidur Rahman, Superintendent of the Press Council M Shakawat Hossain, and District Information Officer M Mainul Islam addressed the function as special guest.
