World Metrology Day observed

DHAKA, May 20, 2025 (BSS) - World Metrology Day was observed today across the country and elsewhere in the world, aiming to raise awareness of the importance of measurement science and its impact on various aspects of life, including business, trade, and sustainable development.

This year the theme of the day is "Measurements for all times, for all people", highlighting significance of accurate measurement in shaping our past, present, and future.

The Ministry of Industries and the Ministry of Housing and Public Works Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan and Secretary to the Ministry of Industries Md. Obaidur Rahman have issued separate messages marking the day.

Marking the day, a discussion was held at the auditorium of the Bangladesh Institute of Management (BIM) today under the initiative of the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI).

Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Abdul Hasib Chowdhury addressed the discussion as the chief guest, while BSTI Director General (DG) SM Ferdows Alam gave welcome address.

FBCCI Administrator Md. Hafizur Rahman and Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC Managing Director SM Mahbubul Alam were present as special guests.

Besides, marking the day, the BSTI has taken various programmes at its head office as well as divisional and district offices. 

Arrangements have been made to broadcast special programmes at Bangladesh Betar.

In addition, banners, festoons, and placards have been put up at various important places in the capital and divisional and district towns across the country.
