KHULNA, May 20, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Navy on Monday raided a hotel in Khulna city and arrested nine individuals involved in a fraudulent racket linked to sailor recruitment for the Summer B-2025 batch.

Acting on a tip off, a Navy team conducted a swift operation at Hotel Sweet Palace under the jurisdiction of Sonadanga Police Station, an ISPR press release said today.

The raid led to the arrest of nine members of a well-organized fraud syndicate and rescue of 38 aspiring job seekers who had fallen victim to the scam.

The fraudsters lured the candidates with false promises of guaranteed recruitment into the Navy in exchange for money ranging from Taka 8 to 15 lakh.

Upon arriving at the hotel, the victims were coerced into handing over signed bank cheques, bank documents and their personal mobile phones.

In a further bid to establish credibility, the fraudsters conducted fake eye health examinations and manipulated color blindness test within the hotel premises.

Authorities also recovered fabricated question papers and answer sheets allegedly used to mislead the candidates.

Many of the victims said that they had sold off family homes, agricultural land and personal valuables to pay the fraudsters.

The arrested have been handed over to the Sonadanga Police Station.

The Navy has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a fair and transparent recruitment process and urged aspirants not to fall prey to such fraudulent schemes.
