DHAKA, May 21, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today imposed a travel ban on former chairman of National Board of Revenue (NBR) Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem and his wife Laila Jesmin over graft allegations.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, allowing a petition of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Confirming the matter to BSS, ACC deputy director (public relations) Akterul Islam said the commission is probing allegations of amassing illegal wealth through corruption and misusing power against Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem and others.

"It has been from the reliable sources that the accused are trying to flee the country to evade justice and that is why travel ban should be imposed on them," the ACC plea said.

Meanwhile, the court today also imposed a travel ban on former counselor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) ward-31 Sheikh Mohammad Alamgir.
